The Aircraft Weight Loss Program
As airlines and aircraft operators strive to cut costs while maintaining the highest safety standards, many are focusing on the best ways to reduce fuel consumption. Albatross is pleased to introduce The Two Stage Weight Loss Program, which ensures that your aircraft maintain optimum fuel efficiency.
The two steps in our weight loss plan address the exterior and the interior of your aircraft, leaving them cleaner than ever before, reducing their weight, saving you time and money and increasing the lifespan of your aircraft.
Step 1 - Purified Water Exterior Cleaning
A single flights can add up to 20 lbs of dirt to the exterior of an aircraft. This dirt adds to the surface area increasing drag and causing the aircraft to consume more fuel. Unwashed aircraft can experience up to a 1% increase in drag, which coupled with the extra weight of all that dirt could increase fuel usage by up to 1.5%.
We utilize a system that uses purified water to clean the exterior of your aircraft - delivering a powerful clean that eliminates more of the dirt than ever before.
Our waterfed pole system means that operators feet are securely on the ground - no more ladders, no more dirty rags, just purified water.
How does it work?
Water is a universal solvent. Fantastic at absorbing dirt, in its liquid form it will typically hold many contaminants and minerals. Purified (De-mineralised) water has been processed to remove all of the mineral and particle pollutants that are typically found in water. As this liquid struggles to return to its natural “dirty” state it becomes an exceptionally powerful cleaning fluid which easily absorbs dirt, chemicals and minerals.
When we use purified water through our waterfed pole cleaning system, the exterior of the aircraft is left spotless - almost sterile. Unlike with old-fashioned aircraft cleaning, there’s no more sticky soap residue, no more dirty rag smears, and the operators’ feet remain firmly on the ground. As this process reduces the chemical and detergent usage, it’s also better for the environment, and you’ll find that your aircraft stay cleaner for longer which saves you money.
Benefits:
-
Reduced need for elevated platforms and stands
-
Reduced EWP usage lowering the risk of impact damage
-
A smoother surface area, increasing fuel performance
-
Aircraft stay cleaner for longer
-
Cleaner aircraft allowing maintenance staff to carry out more thorough inspections
-
Waterfed poles can apply approved chemicals to highly localized areas
-
Reduced salt deposits, preventing corrosion and increasing aircraft lifespan
Step 2 - Deep Clean of Carpets
Did you know that a dirty carpet can hold up to eight times its weight in dirt? Take a Bombardier CRJ100 for example: its cabin carpeted floor area is around 290ft2 and the carpet weighs 90lbs - it can hold up to 740lbs of dust and dirt. That is a hefty addition to your aircraft’s weight, and a huge waste of fuel!
The solution? Albatross' Deep Carpet Cleaning System.
How does it work?
Firstly, our vacuums are among the most powerful on the market. We use an industrial vacuum system that extracts soil, dust and debris out of the carpet at 5,000 r.p.m. Removed dry particles travel immediately down the hoses into the main power unit outside the aircraft cabin reducing contamination risk inside the aircraft.
Secondly, through our partnership with aircraft owners we ensure that regular cleaning with the right products keeps the inside of your aircraft clean to the highest standards. Stains that are treated quickly are more likely to be removed, which is why we recommend a regular deep clean. Each carpet cleaning releases soils, improving the look and feel of your aircraft and significantly reducing the aircraft weight and preventing passenger and crew illness and helping to maintain optimum fuel efficiency.
The deep clean of your carpets helps you to maintain an exquisite interior, which visibly demonstrates your commitment to health and safety and directly impacts your bottom line.
